SHARON, Conn.—Sharon Playhouse is seeking submissions for The Writers Playground 2026, which will take place Friday, Sept. 4. Submissions are due by Friday, May 15.

The Writers Playground provides a platform for writers, performers, directors and technicians in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, as well as neighboring communities in New York and Massachusetts.
Submissions are accepted electronically only. No hard copies will be considered.
To be eligible, playwrights must live within 50 miles of the Sharon Playhouse at 49 Amenia Road. Submitted plays must be original works, never fully produced before and under 15 minutes in length. Cast sizes are limited to six persons or fewer.
Writers should include resumes—theatrical or otherwise—with their submissions. Only one submission per individual is allowed and playwrights must be available for rehearsals and collaboration.
A panel of local artists, theater advocates and Sharon Playhouse staff members will review all submissions and choose six to eight finalists to be produced and presented during the festival.
Submissions that are not selected will be securely destroyed to protect copyrights. Click here to submit works.
