KENT, Conn. — The Park and Recreation Department’s winter basketball program returns to the Kent Center School gym starting Monday, Jan. 6, and continues through March 18.

The program includes skills and drills practices, as well as intramural games to help little ones have fun on the court. Participants can choose to sign up for practices, intramurals, or both.

Pre-K and kindergarten groups will meet Mondays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.; first and second graders, Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; third and fourth graders, Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; and fifth through eighth graders, Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Intramural games will be played Tuesdays, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Both skills and drills practices and intramurals cost $20 per person for residents and $25 per person for non-residents.

Resident is defined as any participant who resides in the town or who pays tuition for their child to attend Kent Center School.

Volunteers are sought to coach the teams or direct skills practice. Volunteers get a full refund on their child (ren)’s enrollment, but parents should be able to commit to the full season. If there is no volunteer coach, the program will not run.
