KENT, Conn.—A sit-down roast beef dinner and an evening of dancing for 300 people? No problem for the Kent volunteer Fire Department—that is, as long as the members have a supportive community behind them.

While there is a very busy group of people who spearhead the effort for one of Kent’s largest townwide events, the annual Firemen’s Ball, this event can only succeed with the many individuals and businesses in town who pitch in to help the KVFD. “We have a great group working on the ball committee and our local businesses are so generous with their support to help make this a wonderful evening—it is truly a collaborative effort.” said Ronda Smith, chair of the 2025 Firemen’s Ball Committee.
Fire Chief Alan Gawel said, “The Firemen’s Ball has been held in almost every event space in Kent, from the parking lot at Town Hall to the Nadal ice rink at Kent School. We’re happy to once again have this year’s event at the firehouse. While most residents only ever drive by the building, this allows us to showcase the house we call home to the people we serve.”
The Firemen’s Ball will be held on Saturday, June 14, at firehousse Department,
28 Maple St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and inner will be served at 7:30, followed by dancing to live music by Those Guys Entertainment. Tickets are $50 per person and $60 at the door. Visit www.kentfire.org to purchase tickets.
