KENT, Conn. — The Connecticut State Police held at food drive for the Kent Food Bank Saturday, Nov. 16, at the IGA Market. Social Services Director Samantha Hasenflue reported that $850 in donations were made to the Kent Community Fund, which supports the food bank.
Additionally, three truckloads of items were delivered to the food bank, which is located on the ground floor at the back of the Community House, 93 North Main St.
“On behalf of the Social Services Department and the food bank, I would like to send an immense thank you to the Connecticut State Police, all of the Kent residents and IGA shoppers who donated,” Hasenflue said.
She extended thanks as well to Linda Hall who dressed up as a turkey, and the food bank volunteers who assisted in transporting and organizing all the donated items.
“The support the food bank gets from the community is heartwarming and greatly appreciated, especially as the number of food bank participants increases,” she said.
