KENT, CONN.—The Sloane-Stanley Museum, 31 Kent Cornwall Road, is buzzing with activity this year as the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary.

The Eric Sloane Museum, located on the campus, will continue its long-time tradition of ringing a bell at 2 p.m. on July 3 in honor of the nation’s birthday. The bellringing will be held at 2 p.m. and will be followed that evening at 7 p.m. by the town’s Lights & Liberty parade and bonfire.
Museum hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum grounds also offer a perfect place to enjoy an afternoon picnic.
Through Sept. 11, the museum is hosting an exhibit of Eric Sloane’s art curated by Wil Mauch that invites visitors to rethink Sloane’s place in Modern Art.
Featured are replicas of Sloane’s sculptures and his “Placements”—his unique response to the Modernist movement. The exhibit’s closing event will be featured as part of the Night at the Museum program.
Returning to the Sloane-Stanley campus is a series of workshops that explore traditional crafts. The hands-on sessions are designed to inspire creativity, build new skills, and foster a deeper appreciation for history, art and craft.
Each session is led by expert instructors. Sessions include raffia hat making, broom making, spoon carving, wool hat making and log hewing. Click here for details.
