SHERMAN, Conn.—The Sherman Library will soon open a new art show, “Insects from Nature: The Art of Found Objects,” by Betsy Duckworth.
The featured sculptures created from found objects are based on a combination of biology, fantasy and inspiration.

Duckworth invites viewers to look more closely, to discover the wonder in pieces collected and repurposed. The artist’s reception will be held Friday, July 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The show will continue through Aug. 27, both at the library and on its website.
An “Insect Inspired” art class led by Duckworth will be held Friday, July 31, from 7 to 8 p.m. Registration is required at shermanlibrary.org or by calling 860-354-2455.
Duckworth is an artist, craftsperson and writer, believing that everything has a story to tell. Her work celebrates impermanence, transformation, and the beauty of what is often discarded or ignored, making insects, with their quiet intricacies and overlooked beauty, the perfect vehicle.
Duckworth holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. She has studied art at the University of the Arts, Parsons School of Design and the Penland School of Craft.
She is the author of “Insects from Nature: The Art of Found Objects,” a how-to book of environmental insect sculpture for artists of all ages. For more information go to www.BetsyDuckworth.com.
The library is located at , 1 Sherman Center and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
