KENT, Conn. — A Kent resident will share the stories of his ancestors in a one-man show Saturday, Sept. 13, in New Milford.

Acclaimed performer Paul Rajeckas will bring his powerful one-man show, “Notes to the Motherland,” to Merryall Center located on Merryall Road at 7:30 p.m.
Hailed as “nothing short of extraordinary” by Backstage Magazine, the performance blends physical theater with storytelling in the spirit of Keaton and Chaplin.
Through humor and heartbreak, “Notes to the Motherland” was born from a journey Rajeckas undertook to Lithuania in 1987, at the height of Glasnost and Perestroika.
What began as a simple search for family roots soon unfolded like a shadowy espionage thriller—dodging secret agents, whispering in back rooms, and moving through a nation still haunted by silence.
The odyssey culminated in a revelation so profound it shattered his understanding of identity and legacy, according to a Merryall press release.
With over 40 years of experience as a performer, educator, and choreographer, Rajeckas has honed his craft into an exploration of how personal stories connect us to history and to each other.
Audience members are also invited to a special post-performance talk back with Rajeckas and Rabbi Mark Cohn of Temple Shalom in New Milford.
Funding for the performance was provided by the New Milford Commission on the Arts.
