CORNWALL, Conn.—Organizers of the annual Labor Day weekend art sale at the Cornwall Library say this year’s event will be special because of the generosity of donors.

It now boasts original works for sale by a range of notable artists, including Amedeo Modigliani, Enrique Chagoya, Marc Simont, Leonard Baskin, Ruth Gannett, Robert Andrew Parker, Nicole Eisenman and R. H. Quaytman, among many others.
The sale also features a selection of vintage photographs, paintings and posters from the collection of the late artist West Cornwall artist Duncan Hannah (1952-2022). Hannah’s work was once described by critic and editor Glenn O’Brien in Artforum magazine as causing “problems for critics because they can’t figure out if he’s retro- or post-something.”
This is the seventh anniversary of this popular event. It opens with a cocktail reception at the library on Friday, Aug. 29, and continues through Monday, Sept. 1. Sale hours are Friday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Labor Day, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The sale and reception will be at 30 Pine Street. All work will be documented to the extent feasible and will be reasonably priced, starting at $25 and running up to much more.
