Henry F. Ferguson, 96, of Millbrook, N.Y., passed away peacefully April 29, 2026, at Vassar Hospital.

Born in the Bronx on Feb. 19, 1930, to Bertha and Henry J. Ferguson, he was a man of profound intellect and discipline. He studied at Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx, attended New York University, and earned two master’s degrees from Columbia University and Rochester Institute of Technology.
He was a professor of electrical engineering at Westchester Community College. A standout chapter in his career occurred in the summer of 1968 in Houston, Texas, where he took great pride in assisting NASA with preparations for the moon landing that took place the following year.
Affectionately known as “the Professor” or “Buddy,” he was at times serious but gentle, especially with his grandchildren. He loved nature—studying the stars, birdwatching, painting, and fishing. He never lost his sense of adventure, whether he was leading his family on a cross-country camping trip in 1976 or enjoying many a sun-drenched summer at “Bromica” on North Spectacle Lake in Kent.
In his final years, he enjoyed the Hudson Valley and companionship with friends at the Fountains at Millbrook. The family is grateful for the care he received at Taconic Rehabilitation in Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Ferguson and is survived by his children, Thomas Ferguson (Lisa) and Anne Johnson (Thomas); his grandchildren Scott (Jaclyn), Amie, Ryan, Mara (Ryan), and Carly; great-granddaughter Summer; and siblings Barbara, Margaret and James.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Audubon Society are suggested.
