KENT, Conn.—The Town of Kent’s USA 250 Committee has announced the final schedule of events for the community’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary on July 3 and July 4.

A July 1963 supplement to the Sunday Bulletin in Philadelphia heralded the passage of legislation championed by Eric Sloane and Eric Hatch that called for bells to be rung across the nation on July 4. The ritual will be re-enacted July 3 as Kent kicks off its celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The two-day celebration will feature a patriotic Lights and Liberty Parade, community bonfire, music, historical commemorations, family activities, fireworks over Lake Waramaug, and opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages to participate in this once-in-a-generation milestone.

“We want this celebration to reflect the spirit of the entire Kent community,” said the Kent USA 250th Committee in a statement. “Whether you’re marching in the parade, volunteering, representing a local organization, or simply joining your neighbors to celebrate, we encourage everyone to take part.”

The schedule is as follows:
