KENT, Conn.—Andrew Rowand, curator of Kent’s Eric Sloane Museum, will explore the life and career of the celebrated artist, author and collector at the Kent Senior Center, 16 Swifts Lane, on Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m.

The program is part of the continuing series of the “People and Places of Kent” programs co-sponsored by the senior center and the Kent Historical Society.
Attendees will discover the story behind the museum Eric Sloane helped establish north of the Kent village more than 50 years ago and explore its evolution from a unique artistic vision to a vibrant community institution.
Rowand will guide attendees through the museum and property’s rich history and Sloane’s legacy.
Also featured will be information about the Kent Iron Furnace, built 200 years ago on the same property and now restored and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Those attending the May 20 program will be invited at a future date to a special tour of the Eric Sloane Museum. The museum houses Eric Sloane’s studio and artwork and a unique collection of early American hand tools. The Noah Blake Cabin, a pioneer cabin rebuilt by the Friends of the Eric Sloane Museum, is also on the property.
Programs are open to seniors 62 and older and their caregivers.
