KENT, Conn.—Two local churches have announced activities this week.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, of which Sacred Heart is a member, will hold its Parish First Friday evening program this coming Friday, Jan. 9, at Saint Bernard Church. The evening begins with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by a continuation of “The
Chosen.” All St. Kateri Parishioners are invited to to join in a community potluck supper meal in the hall, followed by the program presented by Father Peter.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is continuing its ongoing support of the Cathedral Clothing Driving benefiting those in need in Hartford. Steve Klots, who organizes the ministry for the local church, said the collection bin in the narthex has overflowed with donations since fall, but that the need remains great.
“Please keep the clothes (especially men’s clothing) coming,” he said. “In addition, I welcome donations of toiletries—toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc. Smaller sizes are particularly welcome. As part of this ministry, I try to distribute toiletries each month because they are not covered by SNAP.”
