KENT, Conn.—Sheri Moon Zombie’s first solo song and music video premiered Friday night, July 24, at the Morrison Gallery.
As locals wandered over to the gallery on North Main Street from Kent Town Hall after voting on ordinances at the town meeting, they were greeted by throngs of visitors, some more heavily tattooed and pierced than others. Many visitors had driven long distances to Kent and some flew in for the event.
Billy Morrison took a breath between finding more Sharpie markers for the Zombies to sign memorabilia. “It’s not really what we do. This is different. It’s an event, not an art opening. But it’s cool. People flew in, even one guy from overseas.”
The music video, “I Love My Robot” played on a loop with a five-minute countdown between showings. Moon Zombie’s song railed against AI and other technologies that take away the human aspect of creating art.
Long lines zig-zagged through the gallery, with fans clamoring to have Sheri and her husband Rob Zombie sign memorabilia. Some keepsakes were purchased at the event, such as the exclusive 7-inch vinyl single, while others had been in fans’ collections for a while.
The music video and the robot band can be viewed at the Morrison Gallery, 60 North Main St., through the end of the weekend, Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m, and Sunday, July 26, from 12 to 4 p.m.
