KENT, Conn.—Resident State Trooper Vicki Donohoe has warned residents to be wary of potential scams after another Kent resident was defrauded of $20,000.

“If anyone calls you saying they are from your bank, Apple, PayPal, etc., HANG UP,” she advises. “Call them back using the phone number listed in information [from the company’s website] and inquire about your account. You will find out that all is well because institutions don’t call account holders.”

She recommends that persons receiving calls with numbers they don’t recognize should let the calls go to voicemail. “If it’s a real call, they will leave you a message,” she said.

Residents will questions, should call her at 860-927-3134.
