KENT, Conn.—The Kent Conservation Commission, in partnership with the Kent Chamber of Commerce, invites residents, businesses, and community groups to participate in the Kent Town Clean Up, a month-long volunteer effort to remove litter from local roads throughout April.

This annual initiative helps protect Kent’s scenic landscapes, waterways and wildlife while bringing the community together in a shared effort to care for the town’s natural environment. Volunteers can choose a road or area in town to clean at a time that works best for them during the month.
To support participants, free trash bags and gloves will be provided and a limited amount of high visibility safety vests are also available.
“Small actions add up to a big impact,” said Melissa Cherniske, vice chairman of the Kent Conservation Commission. “By picking up litter along our roadsides, volunteers help protect wildlife, keep trash out of our streams and forests, and maintain the natural beauty that makes Kent such a special place to live and visit.”
Individuals, families, school groups and local organizations are all encouraged to participate. Kent Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, South Kent School students and staff, KCS After School program are some of the local youth organizations that have participated in the past. This is a project that can be done by all ages.
Volunteers can register by calling 860-927-3433 or signing up online. A QR code on the event flyer also links directly to the registration page.
