KENT, Conn.—A group of local artists and artisans held a successful Art & Design exhibit at the Community House during the Chamber of Commerce’s recent Sip, Sparkle and Stroll weekend.
It was the second such exhibit held by the committee, which consists of potter Alison Palmer, her husband, musician Steven Katz, woodworker Elizabeth Place and chamber Vice President Ellen Corsell.
“Ellen knows everyone and is such a supporter of the arts,” said Place. “The best part of the show is the artists getting to meet each other.”
The offerings at the most recent show ranged from jewelry to leather goods to paintings, pottery, photography, woodworking and more.
It was a juried show, Palmer said, and was limited to about 20 creatives, most of them local. It is expected that the event will be held biannually on Memorial Day weekend and in November.
“The whole idea is to do community work,” said Palmer. “Right now, we have had the expense of starting up, but eventually we would like to donate to funds to the Food Bank and the Little Guild of St. Francis.”
