WASHINGTON, Conn. —The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens invites community members of all ages to experience “Marvelous Metamorphoses,” a whimsical puppet show presented by Sova Dance & Puppet Theater on Friday, Nov. 28.

The event kicks off with a hands-on mask-making workshop at 2 p.m., followed by the puppet show at 3 p.m. at 1 Green Hill Road.
“Marvelous Metamorphoses” celebrates the bizarre and beautiful transformations found in nature—from caterpillar to butterfly, polliwog to frog and more. This large-scale puppetry performance blends movement, music and storytelling, inviting audiences to dance, sing and marvel at the cycles of life.
Before the show, participants can craft their own artistic bird masks using intricate paper-cutting techniques that highlight color, texture and creativity.
Based in Bethlehem, Conn., and founded by artist Adelka Polak, Sova Dance & Puppet uses puppetry and movement to explore connections between humanity and the environment. “This is our first public performance of ‘Marvelous Metamorphoses’ in Litchfield County since we created the show in 2019,” said Polak.
This is not a drop-off event; a parent or guardian is required to remain on site with children at all times.
Due to limited space, advanced registration for this free event is required by clicking here. Attendees may sign up for the mask-making activity only, the puppet show only, or both.
