SHERMAN, Conn.—With the season starting to change birds are acutely aware of their need to migrate to more hospitable climes. The question for scientists is what benefits birds derive from marathon migrations that can be to locations as far as 7,000 miles.

The Sherman Library and Great Hollow Nature Preserve will hold a program with Dr. Sarah Deckel on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. as she gives a presentation on where and why birds go in the winter. To register for this free in-person program at the Sherman Library go to https://www.shermanlibrary.org/registration-dropdown.
