KENT—Newly elected town officials gathered in the assembly room at Town Hall last Friday evening for a festive swearing-in ceremony conducted by Town Clerk Darlene Brady. The room was filled with candidates and well-wishers as the town welcomed its new—and some returning—volunteers.
Before starting to administer oaths to the officials, Brady took time to thank the poll workers who worked long hours on election day. “The put their best face forward, smiling and taking on the tasks,” she said, encouraging the crowd to applaud their efforts.
She also thanked all the Town Hall workers and the volunteers who serve on town boards and commissions, giving up their time and effort “year after year after year.”
Following the swearing-in, there was time to visit and to enjoy refreshments. Brady encouraged everyone present to approach “at least one person you do not know” for conversation before leaving the event.
