Seniors asked questions about the town’s recently passed budget and future initiatives the town will take, such as possible renovations to Swift House and Phase II of the Streetscape program.

While Lindenmayer said he was not there to influence the thinking of the seniors about the projects but noted that restoration of the ancient Swift House could cost $2 million. He said that “It is a lot of money and there is the question of what we would use it for.”

He said the need for space for small gatherings is mitigated by a $6.5 million expansion of the library and improvements to the Community House.

“But this is a question to be decided by the town,” he said.

The first selectman ended his talk with some “sea stories” from his long career in the Navy.
