KENT, Conn.—The school year is coming to an end, a delicious moment in the life of any child. The Kent Memorial Library will make it even sweeter Friday, June 13, at 1:30 p.m. by offering Last Day of School popsicles to the newly liberated scholars.

The library is also gearing up to keep those same young people busy during the unstructured summer months. The last Teen Advisory Board & Book Club meeting of this school year will be held Wednesday, June 11, at 3:30 p.m. This month’s book is “Liar & Spy,” by Rebecca Stead and copies of the book are available at the library for anyone who is interested.

As this is the last TAB of the year, it is open to rising fifth graders in addition to students in Grades 5 and older. They can take this opportunity to learn about library programs and give input on what they would like to see this summer at the library.

Attendance at this event counts for one point towards the Summer Reading program’s eight-point goal. Call or email the Junior Room for more information.

Youngsters can get ready for summer reading by decorating their own bookmarks Saturday, June 14, between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library will have templates to color and plenty of supplies to allow creativity to shine. Children of all ages are welcome to participate.

The Summer Reading Kick Off Party is set for Wednesday, June 18, at 1:30 p.m. Young people can come by the Junior Room to learn more about the summer of “Level Up at Your Library,” and find out about all the events and activities the library will offer this summer.

They can pick up their first Bingo sheet, do a craft, have a snack and play some games. Kids of all ages are welcome to participate.

Registration also opens for July’s Library Club (formerly known as Library Camp), a weekly two-hour drop-off for kids entering Grades K-4 (space is limited and parents must register for each individual week).

Kent Memorial Library is located at 32 North Main St. For information or registration call 860-927-3761.
