KENT, Conn.—Kent joined the Blue Wave Tuesday voting to support Democratic candidates across the board.

The results were perhaps predictable in a town where Democrats outnumber Republicans by about two-to-one and Independents and Unaffiliated are the second largest voting bloc.

Democratic Registrar of Voters Terese Duncan said Tuesday afternoon said that the turnout for the election was “fantastic,” both during early voting and on election day, although she could not provide specific numbers on election day.

The percentages in Kent reflected results in the other Region 1 towns with Democratic candidates receiving 70 percent or more of the votes cast, and District 64 Representative Maria Horn reaching 83.35 percent in her hometown of Salisbury.

Overall, Horn scored nearly 72 percent of the vote but her opponent—political newcomer Katelyn Borraiz—who received no financial aid and almost no support from her Republican colleagues, garnered a surprising 28 percent of the ballots cast.

Two Brookfield residents opposed each other in the race for the 30th Senatorial District—one, attorney Stephen Harding, senate minority leader since 2024, and the other, political newcomer Aaron Zimmer, a private businessman. Zimmer was buoyed by the Blue Wave and became the first Democrat to be elected to the seat since 1980.

At the federal level, Representative Jahana Hayes received similar support from voters, earning 58.2 percent of the vote against Republican Chris Shea’s 41.8 percent.

In races that directly affected the Northwest Corner, towns registered the following unofficial votes:
