KENT, Conn.—Kenise Barnes Fine Art will present “Closer to the Sun,” a solo exhibition of new paintings by Gabe Brown, an American painter whose work explores the mystical forces of the natural world through luminous color, symbolic geometry, and layered abstraction.

The show will run from Saturday, May 2, through Thursday, June 7. An opening reception will be held Saturday, May 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. The public is invited.

Brown’s paintings invite viewers into a universe where the rhythms of nature, memory and imagination converge, according to a press release.

She was raised in New York City and has gained distinction a painter whose work is exhibited widely across the United States.

Her practice is rooted in the natural world, drawing inspiration from many sources, including birdsong, plant structures, space exploration and natural phenomena. Her paintings—primarily in oil and acrylic—are known for their elegant compositions.

Brown’s work has been featured in numerous galleries and museums nationwide, including Norton Museum of Art, Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, Garrison Art Center, ArtsWestchester, Schweinfurth Arts Center, SUNY Brockport, The Horticultural Society of New York, and Albany International Airport. 

Her work is held in both public and private collections. Among them, The Gund Collection, Saks Fifth Avenue, Time Warner Cable, University Art Museum, University at Albany, Capital One Corporation, Marina Bay Sands, Fidelity Investments, Bank of America, and Caribbean Cruise Line.

The gallery is located at 7 Fulling Lane. Gallery hours are Thursdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
