KENT, Conn.—Members of the Kent Historical Society are invited to participate in its annual meeting Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Kent Town Hall, 41 Kent Green Blvd.
A short business meeting to elect trustees will be followed by a lecture by Executive Director Christine Jewell who will share her genealogical journey. She will describe the roadblocks she faced and how she eventually discovered her patrilineal roots in New Milford. Jewell will also share resources for photo storage, photo identification and genealogy research.
Kent Cemetery sexton Brent Kallstrom and members of the new Kent Cemetery Committee will talk about the grave of Revolutionary War veteran Dr. Oliver Fuller in Good Hill Cemetery. A recent discovery led to a surprising reveal.
Refreshments will be served.
The annual meeting will be followed by a family day at Seven Hearths, the historical society’s headquarters in the Flanders section of town. Veterans Day will be observed by learning about Kent’s veterans and the banners they carried from the American Revolution.Â
Attendees are welcome to create their own banner inspired by historical samples. All ages are welcome, but the program is recommended for children ages 4 and older, accompanied by a caregiver. The program is free, but online registration is requested.
