KENT, Conn.—In anticipation of another bout of high temperature next week, Governor Ned Lamont is directing the state’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol to be activated effective at noon p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, and remain in effect through at least 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14.
Kent’s cooling stations are located at the Kent Memorial Library, 32 North Main St., and the Senior Center, 16 Swifts Lane.
During this period, heat index values are expected to exceed 100 degrees in parts of the state, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday.
This is the fourth time the protocol has been activated so far this year. The purpose of the protocol is to ensure that the most vulnerable populations receive protection from the hot conditions.
