KENT, Conn.—With the temperature again soaring into the 90’s, Kent is following a statewide edict from Gov. Ned Lamont to open cooling centers through at least Wednesday evening.
The Kent CERT Team and the Kent Memorial Library have established such centers to assist anyone needing protection from the hot conditions. The CERT team is hosting a cooling center at the Kent Senior Center on Swift Lane from 5:30 through 9 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Kent Memorial Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Wednesday.
Anyone in need of the cooling center is asked to call the First Selectman’s cellphone at 860-488-6074 or email at firstselectman@townofkentct.gov. Those traveling in and around Connecticut who need a Cooling Center, should call United Way 2-1-1 to be connected to an operator who can direct you to the nearest cooling center.
