SHARON, CONN.—The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon will host acclaimed baseball writer Jane Leavy on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m. for a discussion and signing of her new book, “Make Me Commissioner: I Know What’s Wrong with Baseball and How to Fix It.”

Leavy, the bestselling author of biographies of Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth, brings her deep understanding of the game to this examination of baseball today. From the Cape Cod Baseball League to MLB headquarters, she explores the sport’s human side, sharing insights from legends and luminaries including Joe Torre, Dusty Baker, Jim Palmer, Francisco Lindor, and Bill James.
Praised as both a love letter to America’s pastime and a critique of its flaws, “Make Me Commissioner” highlights the ways modern baseball has lost touch with its fans, players and traditions—and offers imaginative solutions to restore what makes the game great. Readers will find humor, practical proposals and heartfelt reflections on why baseball continues to matter as a mirror of character, culture, and community.
The book has already earned wide acclaim. The Wall Street Journal called Leavy “a voice demanding to be heard—and Major League Baseball should listen.”
This free event is open to all, and books will be available for purchase and signing. Registration is required. For further information click here or call the library at 860-364-5041.
