KENT, Conn.—The Kent Memorial Library is accepting donations of candy to be distributed to businesses and families in the town center who welcome masses of Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween.

The majority of trick-or-treaters are concentrated in the village center where townwide festivities are planned and library director Sarah Marshall said it is not uncommon for businesses and homes there to be visited by 500 or 600 children.
“It can be very expensive,” she told members of the Chamber of Commerce Wednesday night. “The candy we collect will be a drop in the bucket, but it helps.”
So, the library is asking residents who live outside the Main Street area to contribute candy that will be delivered during the week of Oct. 26. Donations will be received through Oct. 30.
She said she prefers donations of candy to money because she does not have time to do the shopping. She suggested that donations be purchased at the IGA and said she could pick up collections there if needed.
Home and shop owners can call 860-927-3761 to sign up for a delivery.
The library is located at 32 N. Main St.
