KENT, Conn.—Kent Parks and Recreation will host a Meteor Shower Party from 9 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Kent Land Trust field at 37 South Main St.

Two minor meteor showers—the Southern Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids—peak overnight on July 29-30, but the stronger of the two showers’, the Southern Delta Aquariids, peak is broad and, according to the American Meteor Society, the produces good rates for a week.

With the moon out of the way just in time, about 25 shooting stars per hour can be expected to be seen in the dark skies.

The second meteor shower to peak overnight on July 29-30 is the Alpha Capricornids, which will add about five to 10 meteors per hour. Active from July 7 to Aug. 15, the shower’s radiant point is the constellation Capricornus.
