Don’t plan on beating the heat by going to the Lake Waramaug State Park, 30 Lake Waramaug Road, today. A high bacterial count in the lake’s waters has caused the Connecticut Parks department to close its swimming area as of Thursday, July 17.

The Kent beach is one of two only state parks in Connecticut to be closed at the moment, the other being in Shelton.

Tests are conducted weekly from Memorial Day until Labor Day, but when a closure is announced a retest is scheduled within the next day if possible.
