SHARON, Conn. — Sharon Playhouse is accepting submissions for its September Writers Playground Festival through May 16.
The event is dedicated to providing a platform for talented writers, performers, directors, and technicians in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut, as well as neighboring communities in New York and Massachusetts.
The 2025 festival will be held Sept. 18-19.
To be eligible, playwrights must reside within 50 miles of the Sharon Playhouse, located 49 Amenia Road, Sharon.
Plays must be original works, never fully produced before, and under 15 minutes in length, and the cast must be limited to six or less.
Playwrights, who must be available for rehearsals and collaboration, can submit only one submission.
Submissions will be accepted electronically only. No hard copies will be considered.
A theatrical or other style resume must be included with a submission.
A panel of local artists, theater advocates, and Sharon Playhouse staff members will review all submissions and choose six to eight finalists to be produced and presented during the festival weekend.
Unselected submissions will be securely destroyed to protect an individual’s copyright. Chosen works are requested to credit The Sharon Playhouse.
