KENT—The Fall Book Discussion Series Worlds of Work in the Novel continues Dec. 14, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. with Mercy Street by Jennifer Haigh.

The “working-class” novel is hard to come by, but since the beginning of the first industrial revolution, a few writers have ventured to portray the experience of labor. However, those early writers had limited knowledge of the actual daily life of a laborer.

The Zoom discussion is conducted by Betty Krasne, Ph.D., writer, professor emerita, and longtime Kent resident. The discussion series is free and open to the public. To register and reserve books call 860-927-3761 or email.
