KENT, Conn.– A Kent man, Larry Williams, will run in next Monday’s 129th Boston Marathon as a part of Team HOPe.
The effort will raise funds for House of Possibilities (HOPe). Established in 2003, House of Possibilities provides disability services to more than 300 children and adults annually from more than 60 communities across Massachusetts. It is based out of Easton, Mass., on the Stonehill College campus.
Williams, 71, a lifelong commercial fisherman, has spent more than 50 years navigating the waters from his home state all the way to Nova Scotia. A veteran marathoner, he is known for cheering others on and offering information gleaned from his many years on the course.
When asked what drives him to run for a cause, Williams, who has already run two previous marathons for HOPe, said, “It’s simple—the most important and loving choice we can make is to help others who are in need.”
Team HOPe consists of seven individuals who have committed to raising funds by running in the Boston Marathon, the oldest continuously held marathon in the world.
