WARREN, Conn.— The Warren Business Association and Friends of Warren School will host their annual Holiday on the Hill Saturday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Warren Community Center gym, 7 Sacket Hill Road.

Proceeds benefit the Warren Town Fuel Fund and the Friends. The fuel fund, managed by Warren Social Services, maintains a limited account specifically for home heating oil assistance for qualifying families. The Friends group supports Warren School’s students and staff by providing enrichment programs and deepening school spirit within the community.

The Town of Warren and Parks and Recreation will serve up chicken tenders and pulled pork sliders in the dining hall of the Community Center. Upstairs will be the Craft Fair, Tree and Wreath Raffle.

The Christmas Tree and Wreath Raffle tickets are available for purchase by Venmo@FriendsOf-Warren School or cash will be accepted at the event. Tickets are one for $5, five for $20, and 20 for $50.

The craft fair features handmade jewelry, ornaments, honey, paintings, wind spinners, knitted hats and scarves, goat milk soap and more.

The pace quickens at 5:30 p.m. when Santa Claus arrives for Christmas carols and the lighting of the tree at the Community Center. He will then head inside to his newly located Warren Workshop where he will dispense little pre-Christmas gifts to good boys and girls.

A tractor will pull the popular Christmas Wagon around the town center, picking visitors up from the various parking areas and businesses will stay open late. Visitors can enjoy rich, creamy mac and cheese at the Warren General and peruse the offerings at the Town Center Wines and Spirits, all while listening to the voices of the Connecticut Yuletide Carolers from 6 to 7 p.m. The WKND and Birdie and Hall stores will have special Sip and Shop nights.

The next stop is the church parish hall where visitors can enjoy hot dogs and chili while watching a special performance of “Frosty’s Miraculous Adventure.” There will be three performances starting at 5:45 p.m.

New this year is a Gingerbread House Competition, also in the parish hall. Attendees can vote for their favorite gingerbread house.

At the library, parents can think about how wonderful it would be to add a little kitten or cat to their family as they meet the kittens and cats brought for adoption by the Wells Valley Cat Rescue.

In the children’s room, there will be holiday card making and parents and children of all ages can browse the library’s Top Shelf Book Sale for another great gift idea.

The Warren Volunteer Fire Company will have cookies and hot chocolate as well as a gift for the kids. The volunteers are always happy to show off their fire equipment and trucks and the department will host the Friends of Warren School in the fire house as they will hold games and activities.

The fire department has also teamed up with the Warren/Washington Food Bank once again this year to collect non-perishable items.

There will be parking at the church, Academy, school, and community center parking lots, aas well as across the street from the Warren General Store.
