KENT, Conn.—Kent Land Trust will sponsor two walks during May.

The first, presented in cooperation with the Kent Historical Society and Kent Parks and Recreation in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, will be a hike at Bull’s Bridge on Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. The guided walk will introduce participants to the human history of the region while they enjoy its spectacular scenery.

The second walk will be a native plants walk at KLT’s Avian Preserve on Thursday, May 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. with the Connecticut Botanical Society.

The botanical society has supported KLT’s habitat restoration work at the Claire Murphy Riverwalk. Together, the organizations now invite all to KLT’s Avian Preserve, where they have collected seeds for the native plant plugs grown for restoration projects.

At this time of year, the Avian Preserve is resplendent with spring ephemerals and new native growth. CBS’s trained botanists and KLT staff will identify and describe native species. Register for either event here
