NEW MILFORD, Conn. —Fire trucks, police cruisers, tow trucks and towering construction vehicles will be waiting for families and truck lovers of all ages to climb aboard, honk the horns and sound the sirens when Litchfield Crossings hosts its annual Touch A Truck on Saturday, Oct.17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 169 Danbury Road in New Milford.

From tots to teens, young attendees can experience the thrill of climbing into the driver’s seat, getting a close-up look at the vehicles they see on the road every day and meeting some of the local professionals behind the wheel.
The lineup will include tow trucks, construction trucks, police cruisers, ambulances and other emergency vehicles, oil and propane trucks, waste trucks and a dog transport vehicle. Members of the New Milford Police Department’s K-9 Division are also expected to be on hand.
Adding to the action will be deejay Phenom Xaden, one of Connecticut’s youngest deejays at just 11 years old, spinning music throughout the day.
This year’s Touch A Truck will benefit the Animal Welfare Society, whose mission is to provide refuge for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats and place them in loving, responsible homes. The organization relies on the generosity of community donors and receives no local, state or federal funding.
“Every donation helps us give these animals a second chance,” said Diane Saraceni, president of the Animal Welfare Society. “We rely on the generous support of our community to continue caring for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats and finding them loving homes.”
Cash donations will be accepted at the event, along with checks made payable to the Animal Welfare Society. AWS representatives will also be at Petco to answer questions about the organization and introduce visitors to some of their feline friends.
“We’re proud to host this signature community event and especially pleased that this year’s Touch A Truck will benefit the Animal Welfare Society and the vital work it does,” said Kristen Gizzi, executive director of Litchfield Crossings. She thanked this year’s participants, including American Waste, Candlewood Valley Motors, Modzelewski’s Towing, FSM for participating, as well as the New Milford Police Department and Petco for their continued support.”
