SHARON, Conn.—The Sharon Playhouse officially launches its summer season with the annual Spotlight Gala, an evening of music, celebration, community and Broadway Saturday, May 30.
This year, Skip Barber, best known as the founder of the Skip Barber Racing School and a steward of Lime Rock Park, will be honored. Barber’s impact extends far beyond motorsports. As a dedicated Sharon Playhouse board member and treasurer, he has been a passionate advocate for the arts and their power to inspire and strengthen community.
The inaugural Spotlight Spirit Award will be presented to Sarah Combs. The Spotlight Spirit Award celebrates individuals whose generosity and belief in live theater illuminate the heart of the Playhouse. Combs, a founding member of Tri-Arts—the organization that became the Sharon Playhouse—has helped shape the foundation of this institution.
Guests can choose to attend the gala dinner and performance, celebrate at the patio celebration, or attend the gala performance.
A dinner will be held in The Bok; there will be live music and chef-prepared fare on the patio, and a Broadway revue to honor Barber and Combs. Performers—including artists from the upcoming summer season and many of the YouthStage Company performers—will entertain the audience.
