SHARON, Conn.—The 27th Annual Sharon Summer Book Signing returns to the Green in Sharon on Friday, Aug. 1, from 4:45 to 7:30 p.m. Activities will be offered throughout the weekend, including Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3.

Festivities now extend into the weekend with a new Saturday event, “Page to Plate: A Celebration of Cookbooks and Cooking.”

Chefs and cookbooks authors will offer demos and talks on a wide variety of topics and books will be available for sale. 

The event is geared to all, with something for everyone on Friday and Saturday: historical, satirical, fiction, nonfiction across many genres, young adults and books for kids of all ages.

There will also be new authors, local and nationally known writers, and bestselling favorites. 

Eight festive author dinners immediately follow the Friday signing offering readers the chance to hear the writers read and discuss their work.

This year the dinners will feature: Jennifer Broome, Shoumita Dasgupta, Ruth Franklin, Elyse Graham, Ngog Minh Ngo, Gary Shteyngart, Sam Tanenhaus and Chris Whipple.

“Page to Plate: A Celebration of Cookbooks and Cooking” follows on Saturday. The morning session features a canning demonstration at 10 a.m. with Bruce Weinstein and Mark Scarbrough, authors of “Cold Canning: The Easy Way to Preserve the Seasons Without Hot Water Processing.” Daniel Leader, the father of artisanal bread on the East Coast and author of “A Slow Rise: Favorite Recipes from Four Decades of Baking with Heart,” will offer a sourdough bread demonstration at 11 a.m.

At noon, attendees are invited to a conversation with Chris Morocco, food director of Bon Appetit and Epicurious, to learn what all about the food media landscape.

The afternoon kicks off at 1:30 p.m. with a talk by Anne Byrn, author of “Baking in the American South: 200 Recipes and Their Untold Stories.” At 2:30 p.m., Sharon’s own Jessie Sheehan will demonstrate recipes from “Salty, Cheesy, Herby, Crispy Snackable Bakes: 100 Easy-Peasy, Savory Recipes for 24/7 Deliciousness.”

The day ends with Cocktails and Conversation with Adam Roberts, author of “Food Person: A Novel.” The food writer turned novelist will read from and discuss his debut novel, a top pick for this summer.

The weekend wraps up with Books, Bubbles and Brunch on Sunday, at a private Sharon residence.

All proceeds support the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon’s operations.

Call the library for further information at 860-364-5041. Friday tickets, at $75, include early admission from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. General Admission, $50, runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pay what you will is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are $250 per person and include early admission.

Saturday ticketing options include morning or afternoon tickets for $40 or an all-day full plate ticket for $75, which includes a light picnic lunch. A weekend ticket, $125 includes early admission on Friday and all day on Saturday.
