SHARON, CONN.—The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon has been designated as a Community Focal Point for the period of Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2028, by Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging.

The designation was given “in recognition of its dedication to serving older adults and their families.” This award recognizes the library’s work in supporting the community through resources, advocacy and programming.

Beginning Friday, Jan. 23, seniors can join in lunches, companionship and a fun activity, film or speaker every second and fourth Friday through August. This program is made possible by a grant from the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation Khurshed Bhumgara Fund.

A program about Winter Wellness with Dr. Elizabeth Wing, ND, will be held Jan. 23 during which time participants will learn naturopathic strategies to boost immunity and stay well in the colds and flu season.

It is followed on Friday, Feb. 13, with Valentine Bingo. Chocolate prizes will be awarded.

Lunch and a movie are planned for Friday, Feb. 27, when “The Bishop’s Wife” will be screened. Cary Grant stars in this fantasy romance as an angel named Dudley, sent to help a struggling bishop who has lost sight of his family while trying to build a grand cathedral. The film also stars David Niven and Loretta Young. 

Resident AI expert Pam Doran returns Friday, March 13, with a Tech Talk about “What is AI?”

Each session meets in the fully accessible Hayes Community Room at the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Registration is required for each session at https://hotchkisslibrary.libcal.com.
