SHARON, Conn. — Sharon Hospital has earned an “A” hospital safety grade from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for patient safety.
This top-tier rating reflects the hospital’s efforts to prevent medical errors, implementing strong infection controls and fostering a culture that prioritizes patient well-being.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a nationally recognized rating that provides patients and their families with objective data to make informed healthcare decisions. Updated biannually, this grade reflects more than 30 safety performance measures, from hospital system efficacy to infection prevention and harm reduction strategies.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
The peer-reviewed criteria Leapfrog uses ensure that an “A” grade is an indicator of quality and trustworthiness.
Over the past year, Sharon Hospital has received a number of prestigious awards in the healthcare field including the Vizient award for outstanding clinical quality and performance. It also earned its fifth consecutive five-star rating—the highest overall—from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for quality patient care.
