KENT, Conn. — A history program that explores the beginning of the Kent Art Association and its influence and impact on the community will be held Wednesday, May 21, at the Kent Senior Center.

Debbie Shiflett-Fitton, executive director of the KAA, will be the guest speaker for the program that will start at 11 a.m. at the 16 Swifts Lane center.

She will also highlight the KAA as one of the first non-profit organizations in town as well as its current status and programs.

In 1923, nine well-known artists from the New York and New England region gathered in Kent to form the KAA, a fledgling artist colony in the Litchfield hills.
