KENT, Conn.—The Registrars of Voters will test the town’s voting equipment on Thursday, Oct. 16, in their second floor office at Kent Town Hall, 41 Kent Green Blvd.

The testing takes place in accordance with Sections 9-238 and 9-247 of Connecticut’s statutes and P.L. 107-25 of the Help America Vote Act.

The public may be present during the preparation, testing and sealing of the tabulators, which begins at 8:30 a.m.

In Connecticut, a 14-day period for early voting for the Tuesday, Nov. 4, municipal election begins on Monday, Oct. 20, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 2. Early voting hours will be Oct. 20-27, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1-2, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Oct. 28 and 30, hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents can register to vote and cast their ballots on the same day during the early voting period. Those choosing to register by mail, must do so by Oct. 17. In-person registration continues until election Day.

On election day, Nov. 4, the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Those in line at 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote. 

While first-time voters or those with an asterisk next to their name on the voter list may need to show ID, all other registered voters can sign an affidavit if they don’t have acceptable identification.
