LITCHFIELD, Conn.—The Northwest Hills Council of Governments (NHCOG), of which Kent is a member, has announced the appointments of Annmarie Ryan and Erik Shortell to grant financial manager and director of transportation, respectively. 

These appointments come at a time of growth for the regional planning agency that will further provide service and support for the region’s 21 municipalities and their constituents. 

Ryan fills a newly created position responsible for all financial matters at the agency and Shortell will replace the recently retired Kathryn Faraci, who held the post for three years.

Ryan spent the previous 12 years of her career in finance in both public and private sectors. Most recently, she served as the finance director for the town of Deep River. She holds a BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Geneseo, an MBA from Marist College, and is a certified public accountant.

Erik Shortell most recently held the position of transportation specialist for more than 15 years at the Federal Highway Administration, most recently serving in the Connecticut Division. He brings extensive expertise in statewide transportation planning, research program oversight, and federal aid compliance. Shortell has monitored and evaluated a wide range of planning and technical programs.

He will continue to support the advancement of transportation planning and support improving mobility, strengthening town centers and gaining access to funding opportunities to further enhance the quality of life across the region.

He holds a BS in International Business and Logistics from Maine Maritime Academy.
