KENT, Conn. — The town has taken delivery of a new Freightliner four-wheel drive plow truck to replace one that has been in the town’s fleet since 2008.
Road foreman Rick Osborne said the truck cost $299,000 and can be expected to be in service for at least 12 years. The town considers 12 years to be the life expectancy of such vehicles. Additional vehicles will be rotated in coming years.
Expensive vehicles such as plow trucks and fire engines are budgeted for in the Capital Plan, which saves up for major expenses over the course of five years.
The truck had not yet been on the road as of Wednesday, Dec. 4, as it still needs to be undercoated and have the town’s logo applied to its doors.
Osborne said the older truck may be sold off.
