LAKE LURE, NC—David B. Gallup, 91, who was recently inducted into the Kent School Athletic Hall of Fame, died March 13, 2026, in Lake Lure, N.C.

He was born Nov. 1, 1934, in Bridgeport Conn., the son of Evelyn and Prentiss Gallup. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Wiliam. His brother, Gus, of California, survives him. Dave leaves five children, Jane Covella, Jeff, Leslie Carlson, Jim and Kirsten Tupper.
Dave attended Kent School and recently was inducted into the Kent School Athletic Hall of Fame. He served four years in the Air Force, assigned to the Special Services Unit, and playing for the Air Force baseball team. His career was supplying felts and chemicals to the paper industry, with his last position as a salesman of office supplies in Portland Ore.
After retiring, Dave reconnected with his college sweetheart, Anne Cave Gundel, and they married on Jan. 17, 2015. He resided in Lake Lure until his passing. His interests were golf, playing bridge and being a member of the Fairfield Mountain Chapel Choir.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 11, at the Fairfield Mountain Chapel.
