GAYLORDSVILLE, Conn.—The gala preview party for the Merwinsville Hotel’s 38th annual Autumn Arts and Fine Crafts Show will feature live music and a festive gathering catered by Hendricks Herb & Table Friday, Oct. 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The gala preview party will showcase the band Mama Train performing in the spirit of the Jazz Age with female vocals and dynamic expressive piano. Inspired by early jazz and blues artists like Billie Holiday, Annette Hanshaw and Django Reinhardt, the classic songs they play range from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Catered hors d’oeuvres will be provided with a wide variety of offerings, along with wine and dessert.
Gala attendees will be able to see and purchase artwork before the general public.
Tickets for the gala party are $30 in advance and $35 at the door; hotel members are admitted for $20 each. Purchase online at www.merwinsvillehotel.org. New members are always welcome.
Those looking for gifts of original artwork by local artists will find a great variety of framed oil paintings, watercolors and photography. The fall show also features the work of artisans in glass, jewelry, woodwork, pottery, fiber arts, and more.
The two-weekend Autumn Arts and Fine Crafts Show has been a long tradition. The dates of the show are Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Oct. 11-13, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-19. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
More than 80 local artists take advantage of the shows offered at the hotel to sell their work and support the ongoing restoration of the building. A portion of all sales benefits the hotel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A $3 donation per person general admission is requested; children under 10 are admitted free as are individuals with a current membership. Those with a “sponsor” or higher membership will receive a one-time 10 percent discount on their entire order.
