KVFD to hold second firefighter's muster Saturday, July 11

KENT, Conn.—It is well known that being a firefighter in the 21st century requires a varied skill set and much training. The Kent Volunteer Fire Department will demonstrate those skills Saturday, July 11, when it invites neighboring departments to engage in friendly competition during the second annual Firefighter’s Muster.

The muster will be held on the grounds of the the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association (CAMA) campus, 31B Kent Cornwall Road.

This free family event, planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature events such as the Old-Time Hand Pumper Challenge, where firefighters use historical hand-pump engines to spray water long distances.

There will be displays of antique fire apparatus, activities for families and tours of the CAMA museums and grounds. Food will be available.
