KENT, Conn. — Shoppers are happy to see Kent Memorial Library’s book sale open for business.
“I come hear all the time,” said Len Wigler, of Danbury, who browsed the rows of books arranged by category on long tables outside the 32 N. Main St. library Sunday, May 25.
He said he enjoys finding new puzzles and searching for some books that will round out a collection by a particular author.
New Jersey resident Kyle Folbercht had a handful of books in his arms as he worked his way along the tables of books.
He and friend, Pamela Ghiorse, traveled to Kent to explore the area and they were delighted with their findings in town. “We’ll be back,” he said.
Repeat customer Dave Melton, of Gaylordsville, checked out with a handful of books covering a variety of topics.
“I come as often as I can,” Melton said. He shared the books about bonsai, and a unique book that unfolds and displays like a piece of art.
Volunteer Perry Smith said talking with customers when they check out is an enjoyable part of the job. “People are finding treasures,” she said.
The sale will continue Monday, May 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Following opening weekend, the sale will be open Fridays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. into October, depending on the weather. The library advises shoppers to check its website or call 860-927-3761 to confirm hours.
