KENT, Conn.—The Kent Art Association is continuing its tradition of showing the best of regional high schools’ art programs as its initial show of 2026.

In 2024, the Constance Horton Award of Excellence for Best in Show went to Gage Heebner of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, an example of the kind of creativity displayed during the Kent Art Association’s annual student show. This year’s show opens Feb. 15. Photo contributed

The tradition began with Connie Horton, an art educator and past KAA president, and for whose legacy is continued in the Connie Horton Award of Excellence for Best in Show.

As tradition is an integral part of the Kent Art Association, it’s only fitting one of the two chairs is Michael Spross, a former student of Horton’s and her successor at Millbrook High School in Millbrook, N.Y.

The second chair is artist Carl Chaiet.
