KENT, Conn.—It always feels hard to have to license your best friend, but June is upon us and that is exactly what we have to do if we own dogs. Town Clerk Darlene Brady has reminded residents that each Kent dog older than six months must be licensed with her office no later than June 30.

There is a $1.00 per month late fee assessed for overdue licenses and failure to license your dog(s) is punishable by a fine in the amount of $75 per dog.
The licensing fee is $8 for each spayed or neutered dog and $19 for each unaltered dog. To obtain the discounted license fee for newly spayed or neutered animals, owners must provide a copy of the spay/neuter certificate.
If the animal’s rabies vaccination expired after the owner licensed him/her last year, a current rabies certificate must be provided to obtain a new license.
License registrations/renewals begin Monday, June 1, and may be obtained in one of three ways:
For new licenses or renewals:
In person at the Kent Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
By mail (new or renewal): Print out and complete a dog license application and return it with full payment to the Town Clerk, P.O. Box 843, Kent, CT, 06757, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of dog tags. Checks should be made payable to “Town of Kent.” Please complete a separate form for each dog licensed.
Renewals (only) may be completed online as of June 1; please click here. If your dog’s rabies vaccination has expired, you must provide a current rabies certificate to the Town Clerk’s office before the online renewal can be completed. This can be done by emailing the certificate to the Town Clerk’s attention.
